Stay up to date with news straight from the rcbl staff
By Dean Barker The Broadway Bruins overcame an early deficit to defeat the RCBL Shockers 7-3 on the road on Wednesday, July 5. With the win, the Bruins improved to 11-7, while the Shockers fell to 13-5. “(We) put together good outings on the mound between our starting staff and our relieving staff, and just put the ball across the plate,” Bruins head coach Bryce Strawderman said. Micah Canterbury picked up the win to improve to 2-1, pitching six innings and giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Joseph McNamara pitched two scoreless innings with no hits, two walks and no strikeouts. Karson Jennings shut the door in the ninth, allowing just one batter to reach with a hit-by-pitch and striking out two. “It’s always big to have a starter go long, (it) saves us up in the pen so we can get ready to go for tomorrow,” Jennings said. “As always, you know, the offense putting together good swings puts together for a good game, and we showed it today with the win.”
