By Dean Barker The Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks hit three home runs and scored in every inning except the sixth in a 13-2 seven inning, mercy rule win over the Elkton Blue Sox. With the win, the D-Backs improved to 9-13, while the Blue Sox fell to 0-22. Logan Stump (2-1) picked up the win, pitching five scoreless innings and striking out six with just two hits allowed. Alex Sutton (0-4) took the loss, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits in two and a third innings. Zach Roberts hit a two run shot to center in the second, followed by a solo home run from Grayson Bush. Logan Duff, who went 2-4 with three RBIs, hit a two run homer in the seventh to end the game. The Diamondbacks will travel to the Bridgewater Reds in a rematch of last year’s championship series at 7:30 pm on Saturday, July 15. The Blue Sox will travel to the RCBL Shockers on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30 pm. The Montezuma Braves overcame an early four run deficit at the Broadway Bruins and won 11-9 in eleven innings. With the win, the Braves improve to 9-11, while the Bruins fell to 11-10. Will Craig (1-3) picked up the win, giving up two runs in the last four innings with six strikeouts. Joe McNamara (0-1) took the loss, giving up two runs in the eleventh. Gavin Rush started the eleventh on second, and took third and home on a wild pitch. Jacob Cude was walked, and came home on a wild pitch to score the second run. The Braves will host the Clover Hill Bucks on Saturday, July 15 for a doubleheader at 5 and 7:30 pm. The Bruins will travel to the Grottoes Cardinals on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30 pm. In a battle of #2 vs #3, the Clover Hill Bucks put together a solid offensive performance to beat the RCBL Shockers 10-3 and leapfrog them for second place. With the win, the Bucks improved to 14-6, while the Shockers fell to 14-7. Reid Long (3-0) picked up the win, pitching eight innings, giving up three runs and striking out five. Pearce Bucher (1-1) took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits. Jose Rocha, who went 1-5 with a walk and two RBIs, hit a two run bomb in the third to give the Bucks a lead they would never relinquish. They scored three runs each in the seventh and eight innings for insurance. The Bucks will travel to the Montezuma Braves on Saturday, July 15 for a doubleheader at 5 and 7:30 pm. The Shockers will host the Elkton Blue Sox on Saturday, July 15 at 7:30 pm.
