Montezuma Braves shortstop Jacob Cude was named Week 7 RCBL Player of the Week. The Mary Baldwin University senior was awarded this for his performance on Wednesday, July 5 at home against the Elkton Blue Sox. Cude went 3-5 with two RBIs, including a grand slam and a bases loaded double to activate the mercy rule at 11-1 in the eighth inning.
Jacob has been a major contributor to this lineup for the past two years,” Braves head coach Chris Rush said. “Last year Jacob competed as one of the top hitters in the league, and although his bat started off a little slower this year, he is starting to see results at the plate and having an impact in the lineup for the Braves.”
Bridgewater Reds pitcher Chris Huffman merited an honorable mention for pitching eight shutout innings with eleven strikeouts at the RCBL Shockers on Wednesday. Braves third baseman Gavin Rush also merited an honorable mention for going 3-5 in the game against the Blue Sox.
