For the third time this week, the Mountaineers and Diamondbacks were unable to get their schedule game in. Everything was dry in Stuarts Draft on Thursday night and while the radar had heavy rain nearby, it had pushed east and was not going to hit the field. But around 6:15, a cell popped up on the radar out of nowhere, and the skies opened up and unleashed a downpour. After about 20 minutes of heavy rain, the field was in rough shape, but the Diamondbacks’ players and staff tried for about 30-40 minutes to get the field ready. Around 7:15, it started to rain again, and that’s when the decision was made to move the game.
Game two is Friday night at Stuarts Draft at 7:00 PM. The Mountaineers lead the series, 1-0. If Massanutten wins Game 2, the series is over and they advance to the semifinals against Clover Hill and the series will begin Sunday night at Clover Hill. If the Diamondbacks win Game 2, then a deciding Game 3 will be Saturday night at Spotswood High School.
