By Nolan Potts Stuarts Draft came out with their bats on fire on Friday night as they scored five runs in the first inning and added six more in the third as they defeated Massanutten by a final score of 14-4. Game 3 is Saturday night at Spotswood HS at 6:30 PM. The winner of Game 3 will take on Clover Hill in the semifinals. The Diamondbacks had 17 hits in the game, including four doubles from leadoff hitter Zach Roberts. Will Decker had two hits and three RBI, while Ryan Farris had two hits – including a home run – and drove in two. All nine starters had at least one hit, eight of the nine scored a run, and seven of the nine had at least one RBI. Trevor Vernon went the first six innings for Stuarts Draft to earn the win and allowed four hits and four runs, though none of the runs were earned. The left-hander also struck out eight batters on 129 pitches. For Massanutten, Nate Brookshire had two hits and an RBI, while Kaplan Ambrose had a sacrifice fly. Kaden Spaid, Matt House, Dawson Russell, and Jackson Baugher all had a hit for the Mountaineers. Spaid also threw two scoreless innings in relief on a night where the team used five pitchers.
